Hello Everyone!

My name is Eliot Deters. I am a proud Christian, professional educator, entrepreneur, and father. I am excited to join the other educators at Whitinsville Christian this fall.

I started my working career at the age of 10 with a job at the car wash, where I was paid $3 a day plus all the coins in the soda machine. My parents told me that if I wanted anything in life, I had to work for it, and so I did. I saved my money and made my first big purchase: a drum set from the local music store. This work ethic later helped me achieve the roles of district and regional managers for McDonald's and Arby’s Corporation, and become an entrepreneur myself.

I graduated cum laude from Indiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management, Accounting, and Finance. I also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education with a minor in Recreation, Sport, and Facility Management.

My first job out of college was as a District Executive with the Boy Scouts of America. Within four years, I was promoted to District Finance Director and, in 2007, I earned the recognition of Professional of the Year. This recognition came from hard work and dedication to my team and volunteers. I was proud to be the youngest ever to earn this honor.

The retail shipping world became my next venture when I opened my first pack and ship store in Collinsville, Illinois, in the fall of 2007. After a few months, I soon realized that what works at one location could work at a second and a third. Within 15 months, I was overseeing operations at three locations in the St. Louis Metro area. The Mail Box Store brand continued growing locally as well as nationally. Over the past 17 years, I have overseen the daily operations at three local locations and successfully helped over 65 new owners open their own packing, shipping, and printing centers nationwide. My passion for training and desire to educate have allowed me to train hundreds of owners, managers, and employees. Finally, in 2023, I needed to make some changes for my family and decided that teaching would afford me the flexibility to do these things. This is when Mr. Deter$ came to life, and since then, I have found my new passion.

My memorable achievements include earning my Eagle Scout Award as a youth, the James E West Honor in 2004, and the Paul Harris Fellow in 2005. I was honored to serve on the local Knights of Columbus Council, Assembly, and Illinois State Council. I have two daughters, Zoey (11) and Catherine (6), who are my pride and joy.
