Hello everyone!
My name is Eliot Deters, and I am a proud Christian, educator, entrepreneur, and father. I am excited to start my second year at Whitinsville Christian School this fall.
My work journey began at age 10 when I took my first job at a local car wash, earning $3 a day plus whatever coins I collected from the soda machine. My parents taught me an important lesson early in life: if I wanted something, I needed to work for it. I embraced that mindset, saved my earnings, and made my first major purchase: a drum set from a local music store.
That same work ethic guided me throughout my career, leading to leadership roles as a district and regional manager with McDonald's and Arby’s, and eventually inspiring me to become an entrepreneur.
I graduated cum laude from Indiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with an emphasis in management, accounting, and finance. I also earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Education with a minor in Recreation, Sport, and Facility Management.
Following college, I began my professional career with the Boy Scouts of America as a District Executive. Within four years, I advanced to District Finance Director and, in 2007, was honored as Professional of the Year, the youngest recipient to earn this distinction.
In 2007, I entered the retail shipping industry by opening my first packing and shipping store in Collinsville, Illinois. What began as a single location quickly expanded to three stores across the St. Louis metro area. Over the past 17 years, I have managed daily operations, helped more than 65 entrepreneurs launch their own packing, shipping, and printing businesses nationwide, and trained hundreds of owners, managers, and employees.
In 2023, I decided to transition into education to gain more flexibility for my family. That decision led to the creation of "Mr. Deter$" and helped me discover a new passion: preparing students for success through meaningful, real-world learning experiences.
Some of my most meaningful achievements include earning the Eagle Scout Award, receiving the James E. West Fellowship Award in 2004, and being recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow in 2005. I have also had the privilege of serving on local and state leadership councils within the Knights of Columbus.
Above all else, I am most proud to be the father of my two daughters, Zoey and Catherine, who are my greatest joy and inspiration.
I look forward to partnering with students, families, and colleagues as we learn, grow, and serve together at Whitinsville Christian School.
